Born in Dundee in 1954, Allan Henderson attended Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art (1974 – 78) where he graduated in Drawing & Painting.
He is a highly regarded Scottish Contemporary Artist, and has exhibited alongside the late Alberto Morocco RSA and David Mclure RSA in the Lincoln Centre, New York, USA. His painting style lies somewhere between the broken colour technique of Impressionism and the Divisionist application of paint attributed to the Neo-Impressionists such as Paul Signac and Henri-Edmond Cross. This Divisionist (or sometimes referred to Pointillist technique) creates a higher saturation of chroma when pure spectral colours are placed adjacent to each other on the canvas. When viewed from a distance (usually three times the diagonal length of the painting) the colours optically fuse to give a richness that can’t be physically mixed on the palette. He has exhibited work both in this country and in the USA.
